Game Development

AVENGE MYSELF is a physics-based speedrunning movement shooter inspired by Tribes, Trackmania, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Originally started as a (rather anachronistic) game jam game for the Ouya, I'm developing it on my own with a soundtrack by Pascal van den Bos. The game is made in Unity with Blender used for modeling and level design.

Having been killed in an A.I. uprising, your restless spirit possesses one of the machines to get even from beyond the grave. But on your path of vengeance, you may find that the city is not what it seems...

Though technically a shooter, AVENGE MYSELF is really a platformer first. Through combining their movement abilities with the level geometry, players can reach extremely high speeds and perform physics-defying stunts, and the heart of the game is perfecting your routing and execution to clear stages as quickly as possible.

The game jam version can be downloaded from itch.io. The full game is still in development, but is available for wishlisting on Steam. Evaluation builds are available upon request.

Development Log

This devlog for the game jam version covers the finer details of my design process for the game and its stages.

(In truth, the game was originally created for the devlog, but it turned out so well that I decided to keep working on it!)
